Talari Network - T3000 Internet Communications Controller
The start-up Talari Networks created a very creative and interesting product that let enterprises combine private WANs with less-expensive broadband Internet links to get more bandwidth. This approach could be a killer for small to mid-market organizations that are concerned with bandwidth. Their system adapts traffic based on the routing required. The product is located at Here

DataCenter - Watch out for SevOne
SevOne is offering a data center product that I really enjoy toying around with. They offer a performance monitoring system that enables QOS and NetFlow. The GUI is relatively easy to use since they are a new startup. Their system also offers Trend reporting that is really effective for longer term views of your data system or laboratory. Check them out at

Cisco vs. Microsoft UC solutions
Network World has an article that discusses microsoft's and cisco's approach to unified communications. Overall I think that Cisco offers a better strategy than Microsoft primarily because they are also offering hardware based solutions. I also think that Cisco's products are not biased towards one specific operating system which allows companies like Apple into the enterprise network.

SUTUS All In One Startup In a Box

SUTUS is a startup that is offering an all in one small business solution that I strongly recommend. Their solution is really easy to setup and offers VPN, VOIP, Wireless, and even a file server all in one box. X2 Squared is currently in the process of partnering with Sutus to offer their products to small businesses. Their Business Central 200 integrates all of the features that are required for a new startup with less than 25 employees. The only thing missing is a coffee maker.
Enterprise Virtualization Management Suite
ManageIQ has now built into their virtualization management suite the ability to discover things like VLANs LUNs and other virtual appliance. It can also now do dependency mapping and can report on a bunch of different options for virtual machines. Their system also has a new policy and role based feature that is very promising. Take a look at http://www.manageiq.com

Asterisk Appliance's Web GUI Problems
I had the privilege of using the Asterisk Appliance web gui the other day (AA50). I found it a little odd. The manual said that Firefox was the recommended browser but it didnt mention which version. Im using Firefox 3 and all the knob and switches wasnt working too well. In the extension menu where you create users and edit users there is a box with all the users in it and you can click on one to load up that user's info. But when you click on one user all the users get highlighted and in turn no user's information is loaded. I automatically knew it was a browser issue and switch to IE7. This section worked in IE7 fine. So im going along editing and adding users then I wanted to an additional Service Provider to add in more POTS lines. When I click on this menu in IE7 the right panel kept on scrolling "Loading...". Thinking to myself, "ok, its loading....Ill sit here for a second or a few minutes". Nothing happened, another browser issue? Going back to Firefox and clicking on the same link the Service Providers page works and I can add/edit stuff. What ever happened to browser testing?

Are Trade Shows Dead?
After going to several trade show events in the bay area. I have almost concluded that the era of trade shows is slowing dying off as more and more buyers are no longer going to trade shows. This happened at the RSA event RSA Conference and now the VON show is also having trouble See the article here I think this is normal as people are starting to look online to solve their problems more and realize that they can obtain better information simply by searching online. It also maybe because its cheaper to look online then to actually go to a trade show.
Mashups Bandwidth Hog Or Savior?
After all of the mashup articles, web 2.0 articles I have found an interesting site that lets you view a great deal of web 2.0 mashups. The problem though was that at least 5-10 of the applications I was looking at their server response time was slow or unmaintained. If you are looking to build an enterprise level web mashup application you need to understand scalability. Contact Us today to see how we can assist your organization grow your web application mashup into something that is scalable to enterprise levels.
